Finally in NYC!

I have finally arrived in New York! My flight left early in the morning so I got to my dorm room at around 11am. I met both of my roommates and started to unpack. I bought some food to hold me over before I go grocery shopping for real and some toiletries I didn't bring from home. I'm looking forward to getting to know my roommates (even though one is a big Michigan fan).

I found out that I will be working in the insurance industry. I will find out the exact client I'm working on later in the week but I am excited to learn more about the insurance industry. This week is on-boarding and basic training. It's not until the following week that I learn more specifics about my client and training specific to the insurance industry. My internship with Crowe was also in the financial services branch, but in the banking industry so a big part of my audit was with cash, deposits, and loans. I'm glad I have the opportunity to learn about an industry I am not as familiar with.

New York so far has been great. I can't wait to be able to walk around the city and actually feel comfortable with where I'm going and what I'm doing. It's crazy to think that I will have a routine here rather than just being here on vacation.

Week 7

After a long weekend with my family, I wasn't too excited to head back to work, but luckily I had some things to do. During this week I was mostly focused on walkthroughs, meetings with the client to discuss and understand the processes and controls they have in place. I went through the prior year workpapers to get a better understanding of the walkthroughs and compiled a list of evidence that was obtained in prior year that would probably need to be obtained this year as well. On Wednesday we had our annual team meeting. Our engagement team went over things that happened in prior year that went well and also some pain points and how to improve. They also talked about a tentative schedule of the audit and the importance of finishing the planning portion of the audit before busy season begins in January. Impact at Disney World

At the end of every internship, PwC hosts the Impact Conference at Walt Disney World in Florida where every intern in the United States goes. I got to the resort on Monday afternoon, and after I registered I quickly put my bags in my room and got on a bus to the opening ceremony. On the bus I sat with someone from Ohio State who I haven't talked to since the first week of my internship. So it was nice to catch up with her. At the opening ceremony I met up with some friends from Ohio State who were in different offices and learned about their internship. I also met up with some friends I made that summer in New York. There were a lot of fun activities to do such as a ball pit, see saw, and photo booth. There was also a Bebe Rexha concert at the end of the evening. It was a really fun event that was a great kick-off to the event. After the concert, everyone hung out at the resort.
